Could it be worse?
« on: August 17, 2021, 11:27:40 AM »
I don't think Strokey-Joe's handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal could be worse.  It's a global embarrassment where the US is once again bowing to radical Islamic assholes.  The Taliban is now possessing our weapons, vehicles and tax-payer dollars.  Most importantly, the Taliban surrounds the only way out and all we are doing is sending troops to secure the airport.  That's all good if you are fortunate enough to be inside the Taliban controlled perimeter.  The poor forgotten bastards outside are screwed.  Expect a new round of be-headings and other unspeakable incidents.  Obama released a few guys from Gitmo that now command the Taliban.  And, the Twitter morons that banned Trump still allows the Taliban to contribute their evil messages.

The seasoned world-class, most competent diplomat Biden just blames everyone, then ends his speech with "The buck stops with me."  Incoherent bullshit once again.

Actually; It's an embracement to the whole Western World, as other European Country (Nato) pulled out of Afghanistan. The whole thing could have been done much better by a slow withdrawal, giving the Afghanistan military and government more time to prepare for this.

Also with the foreign military gone, there is nothing left to apply pressure on the negotiating table with the Taliban.

We also need to keep in mind, that the withdrawal of the Military from Afghanistan and other countries has been started by Trump and has weakened the control over and access to the governments America is trying to protect itself from and others.

Capt., I respect your opinion.  But... the words "negotiating and Taliban" just don't make sense.  There's no negotiating with terrorists, period. ;)

Trump had it right, withdraw under OUR terms.  His plan was vastly different from the chaotic crap that's happening now.  20 years of war, a few trillion dollars from the US, and lost/changed lives makes it a good goal.

As a US taxpayer and citizen, I'm tired of policing countries.  NATO is a joke.  It's time for the US to take a breath, secure the borders and assess  our priorities.

I think the Brexit folks felt my pain as they have boosted the socialized conglomerate.

Incoherent bullshit once again.
He is reading off of whatever is given to him and even his speech writers are incoherent bs-ers.

Hi Henry;

I am sure you are right.

I'm sure, Brits living elsewhere have negative effects.  But, the homeland? Maybe not so much.

I hope you can come to see us soon, Henry

It's important to assess the effects on Brits overall.

Well: The effects on all the Brits??? Good question.

So far they have established an Anti Brexit Party.

Loads of the promises given to the British public have been a Haux. A lot of hot air speeches were given.

The money they thought they could save and give to the National Health System never happend.

Europe was Brittens largest Exporter. Now with new import taxes and paperwork, the trades have slow down tremendously.

The larger amount of Fish they thought they could catch and sell is rotting away, because customs procedures are too slow and they can not move the fish before it goes bad.

I have stopped buying from the UK, since import tax and procedures turn any deal into a nightmare, financially and time wise. And what I can see, I am not alone in that. Even many Brits over here in Spain have stopped buying direct from the UK

And so I could go on and on.

I am glad I no longer live in Britten, but in Spain, where 90+ % of the Brits (several hundred thousands) are Anti Brexit.

Actually, I will be in the US from mid September to mid October this year, if our flights don't get cancelled again.

Maybe we can meet up some place (Ed's place) or anywhere near Ashville NC while I am back.

Yeah, for those who live elsewhere.

In order to see it objectively, one needs to understand the reason why Brexit started and what it's supposed to do.  Britain can still trade with other nations but per their own choice, not the locked in setting of EU.  It's not about cheaper goods but the future of Britain's integrity.  Don't forget that the anti-Brexit are doing everything they can to impede this movement so it hasn't been a clear sailing.

Yes, your somewhat right. I have been living and working with Brits for over 20 years and I have also lived several years in the UK, so I think I understand Brits somewhat.

One of the thoughts about the Brexit for the Brits was, to no linger be under the rules of the EU. They thought they can do things much better and that things would be much better after the Brexit. HOWEVER,  it turned out to be more 'wishful thinking' and the Britisch economy is suffering. The powerful and rich in the UK are getting more powerful and richer, but the regular person (Like me and most likely you) is off worse and is loosing out on the deal.

As I brought up already, the opposition is doing everything they can to impede the Brexit movement and they aren't only in Britain.  French president Macron made trade decisions to make things go south for Britain in the name of Covid pandemic emergency.  As the famous socialist mantra says, never let crisis go to waste.

What you may not be getting the exposure to (depends on what kind of media is available to you) is all the obstacles the Brexit movement has been and still is facing and that includes deceptions.

What Media??? Good question.

Having lived for many years in the US I know what media you get m(and I still see some of ot) PLUS some new online channels that supposedly give you the TRUE news.

Over here in Europe I get news from all over the globe.

Yes I know news media can and is biased, especially in the US.

I like to watch News from many different sources from many different countries and then find out where they agree on. Usually the news info is correct, but the interpretation may differ, but many times its due to looking at some news from a different angle with a different mind set. So putting all the puzzle pieces together gives usually a pretty decent picture of what is going on. Also knowing people that are affected by it and talking with people about it shares even more insight to it like in the case of Brexit here.
